BridgeCharoenrat 31 Bridge Built in 1910, in the reig] of King Rama VI to commem( rate his 31st birthday, this is a concrete bridge with iron bar' and mortar sculptures in the shape of a tiger holding a dagger. There is an inscripti, of the figure "31" with the Kin insignia on the bridge.

Ubonrat Bridge
Constructed as a tribute to Princess Ubonratnarinart, one oflZing Rama V's wives, in 1912 in the reign of King Rama VI, the bridge's original name was Saphan Huatakae or Crocodile's head bridge. It is a concrete bridge with circles on both sides and a ceramic rail with Thaimortar sculpture.

Saphan HokMon Bridge or Saphan Mon
Built in the reign of King Rama III in teak with concrete steps at both ends, this bridge was reconstructed in concrete during the reign of King Rama VI.

Saphan Chang Rong, Si or Cnang Rong Si Bridge
Designed by Krom Phraya Damrong Rajanuphab, the first Minister of Interior, and constructed in 1910, during the reign of King Rama V, the bridge was built to celebrate the king's 4th cycle (48 years) birthday.

Saphan Hok
These were wooden bridges meant only for walking on. The bridges were rebuilt based on the archive photographs and renamed Saphan Mai Hok Vilanda. There were four of them in the reigns of Kings Rama IV and V, in front of the Ministry of Interior, across the city moat, behind the Ministry of Defence. The ministry was rebuilt to the side of Sai Panya' s Palace and across Khlong Bangkok Yai.

Charoen Siri Bridge 34 or Saphan Charoen Siri 34
Another concrete bridge with four cement columns decorated with western sculptures. Each column bears the number "4" which signifies the fourth year of King Rama VI's reign. His Majesty funded the construction of the bridge to mark his 34th birthday in 1913.

Phan Phiphop Lila Bridge or Saphan Phan Phiphop
Built in 1906 in the reign of King Rama V from His Majesty's own fund, the name means the bridge where the king crosses. It once had beautiful rails but the bridge has been rebuilt and expanded several times, unfortunately leaving no trace of the original structure.


Suan Lumphi

Suan LumphiNamed after the Buddha's birthplace in Nepal, this is Bangkok's largest and most popular park. The park is bordered by Rama IV Road to the South, Sarasin Road to the North, Witthayu Road to the East and Ratchadamri Road to the West, with entrance gates on all sides. A large artificial lake in the centre is surrounded by broad, well-tended lawns, wooded areas and walking paths. In other words, it's the best outdoor escape from Bangkok without leaving town.

One of the best times to visit the park is in the early

Rama IX Royal ParkOpened in 1987 to commemorate King Bhumibol Adulyadej 's 60th birthday. This is the newest of Bangkok's green areas covering 80 hectares and includes a water park and botanical gardens. Since its opening, the latter has developed into a significant horticultural research centre.
Amuseum with an exhibition on the life of the king sits at the centre of the park. The park is open from 06:00 to 18:00 daily; admission is 10 baht.


Suan Rommamnat

Suan RommamnatThis name was graciously given to the park by H.M. the Queen. It was a detention area before being transformed into a public park. Original constructions have been maintained such as the watch tower. Within, there is a building constructed during the reign of King Rama V which now serves as a penal museum and shop for selling products made by prisoners. The open space inside has been turned into a garden and recreation ground. You will find it locate 1 at Mahachai Road on the Wat Suthat Thepwararam side.


Suan Saranrom

Suan SaranromThis is an old park, and originally a garden in the Saranrom Palace. It is now a part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Complex. The park itself was built in 1874 in the
reign of King Rama V. Saranrom, which is full of old trees, is now open to the public. In the park there is a monument of Queen Sunanda built in 1880. Her Majesty, unfortunately, died in a boat accident in Ayutthaya that same year.


Benchasiri Park

Suan Chatuchak or Chatuchak Park

Chatuchak ParkThis is another major public park, in Bangkok, which is located on Phahonyothin Road. It is a spacious park with trees and wide lawns and venue for the "weekend market."


Dusit Zoo or Khao Din

Dusit Zoo or Khao Din This is an 01d zoo and is extremely popular. Located next to the Dusit Throne Hall (National Assembly), Dttsit Zoo is very large and houses a wide range or tropical wild animals. It also serves a public pad and an area of recreation. The Snake Farm, Thai Red Cross

The Snake FarmInside the compound of the Thai Red Cross at Chulalongkorn Hospital on Rama IV Road is a huge snake farm conducting venom extraction to make anti-snakebite serum. Here you can study different species of snakes, and their venom properties, and observe the milking of snakes to extract venom. The farm is open on weekdays from 08:30 to 10 : 30 hours, from 08:30 to 12:00 hours on weekends and publi, holidays. Venom milking demonstrations take place at 10:30 and 14:00 hours midweek, and on weekends and public holidays at 10:30 hour.


Dan Neramit (Fantasy Land)

Dan NeramitSituated on Pahonyothin Road, beside the Registration Division of the Royal Police
Department at Lat Phrao, Dan Neramit is the first amusement park in Thailand
where there are more than thirty types of imported game machines including Fantasy Land and Cinderella'scastle at the forefront of the park. It is a dream land in the imagination of a child. Within its com- pound there are many restaurants serving different types of fund and refreshments. It is open to the public on weekdays from 10:00 to 17:00 hours and from 10:00 to 19:00 hours during weekends and official holidays. Achnission fees for adults and children are 60 baht and 50 baht respectively.


Dream World

Dream World Located at kilometre 7 on the Rangsit-Ongkharak Road, Amphur Thanyaburi of Pathumthani Province, Dream World has within its compound a Fantasy Land and a wide variety of amusement machines and games. It is open during weekdays from 09:30 to 17:00 hours and 09:30 and 19:00 during weekends and official holidays. Admission fees plus fee for stage entertainment for adults and children are 95 baht and 80 baht respectively. Fees including tickets for all amusement games for adults and children are 250 baht. Taling Chan Floating Market

This is a weekend market open only Saturda s and Sundays from 09:00 to 16:00 hours at the pier in front of Taling Chan District Office or Sam Nak Ngarn Khet Taling Chun. Around that area there are facilities for private boat tours along the canal to observe the green surroundings of fruit orchards and the life style of the people at Taling Chan.
