Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has implemented a "walkin street " project by closing some roads of historical and cultural interst for four main ressons: Lisstly, to create an open space; secondly to provide avenue for arts centres and for concerts; thirdly for cultural and commercial activities and, lastly, for walking. The roads involved in the programme are:

This is one of the historical roads on Rattanakosin Island, located to the side of Thammasat University campus and Wat Maha Tat. This road, which is cool and shaded by trees, will be closed from Maharat Road to Phra Chan Road for open-air art exhibitions by local and international artists.

One of the roads that connects Sathon to Silom Roads, is closed (on selected days) from the beginning of S Pitpat 2 to Soi Sala Daeng 2.
