The Sacred Small-Hall Image

The Sacred Small-Hall Image

Formerly called Wat Bang Wa Noi, this ancient temple was renovated by the Viceroy, Prince Bowonsathan Phimuk, in the First Reign. The king renamed it  " Wat Amarinthraram "

It has flourished for more than a hundred years until towards the end of WW II. The allies bombarded the nearby train station into smithereens, to cut off the Japanese transport of war supplies. The temple was also razed. The small image hall with a beautiful Ayutthaya image inside was miraculously intact. The image locally called “Luangpho Bot Noi” (The image of the small hall), was believed to have saved the hall with its magical sacredness. People still come to pay homage to this revered image.
